My photographic journey began on the sidelines of my daughter’s middle school soccer matches. What started as a proud parent capturing fleeting moments evolved over a decade into a dedicated study of sports photography. Seeking new challenges, I turned to landscapes, only to discover that their wide-open calm did not suit me. I soon found my true calling in macro work—first with flowers, then with the far more exacting world of insect photography and its many frustrations and rewards.

Today I shoot almost every day, often taking hundreds or even thousands of shots. For roughly two-thirds of the year my focus is on macro subjects; the remaining third I devote largely to wildlife, especially birds. I also continue to cover every girls’ soccer and lacrosse game at Cromwell High School, a commitment that has naturally led to photographing team, captain, and senior portraits in recent years.
